Cities, themselves, occupy vast and large areas of a land. It is obvious, that our forefathers’ experiences have had a very important impact on selecting a city location. In the past, it was not so important for the citizens, due to their simple living style. In this manner, as long as a region was not- under the serious threat of river floods, or continuous and dangerous rock falls, or massive avalanche falls, and if there was not any land slide, “for the time being!”, nobody would care about the consequences and the housing development and the building construction would be recognized suitable in there. Even, sometimes the safety and the shelter issues, concerning their dangers in a region could have been underestimated, such as: mountain falling boulders. However, it will certainly be a matter and will be understandable when the losses, occurred would be unbearable for a human being.
In the past, the magnitude of losses, occurred as a result of buildings, ruined; the belongings, washed away; or other various damages; suffered- due to floods, would not have been so extensive. It seems, the damages and compensation of the ruins would not have been so important and complicated, due to the buildings and their belongings simplicity, of course! At the contrast, nowadays, as civil work equipment is sophisticatedly developed and the buildings are massive and more equipped, consequently the cities surface areas are drastically multiplied. Large and smell factories are necessarily established beside the cities. These certainly need more extensive areas. Nowadays, determining the location and setting up such said factories are only focused on the economical and technical factors, and therefore the importance of natural forces is rather ignored, for the cheap price of land. Consequently, the residential houses and the factory installations are established in various regions at personal discretion, and almost regardless of the environmental dynamics. Therefore, whenever various natural events, with their immense forces occur, such places would be, on the verge of the threat, besides their destruction that would be inevitable. Therefore, the importance and urgency of understanding the characteristics of natural surroundings, as well as distinguishing the proper areas for construction of buildings and structures should be considered- relative to the improper ones.
